I run and read obsessively. I can eat an entire pan of Rice Krispie treats in one sitting. I have two pretty cute kids, a wonderful husband and a very mellow dog.

Currently reading … and a note on English majors
Howdy, friends. Here’s what I’m reading now: And here is a review. I loved his other book, “Middlesex,” and so far, this one is awesome, too. Except this painful paragraph about English majors: “Because they weren’t left-brained enough for science, … Continue reading

Sibling rivalry, in photos
Howdy, friends. This past weekend, Viv was just hanging out by our ottoman, with her awesome ponytails, while Jack took random shit from the kitchen and rearranged it in other places in the house. Hello dirty dishtowel. Viv was oblivious, … Continue reading

“Major Pettigrew,” take 2
Howdy, friends. I rarely give up on a book — I’ll drag my way through even crappy books, just because I’m afraid I’ll miss something. But I started reading Helen Simonson’s “Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand” last year (review here), and … Continue reading

The heart of the matter
Howdy, friends. Jack has a horrible/sweet habit of climbing into bed with us most nights. It’s hard to resist the feet padding into our room, and the request, “Mom, can I cuddle wif you?” He always brings his blankie and … Continue reading

Some notes on Viv
Howdy friends. I was talking to my friend Laurie the other night (and by that I mean we both were drinking wine and getting sappier and sappier over the course of our 2.5-hour phone call — which we do every … Continue reading
When you get older…
Howdy, friends. Jack is super interested in what he can do when he gets bigger. It all started because he can see his future elementary school from an upstairs window in our house. “Mom, I wanna go to that school,” … Continue reading
