Boston, books, blog

Howdy, friends.

Here is the latest from the Boston blog, about the 20-miler I did last week.

And I’m doing some profiles of South Dakotans running this year, so look for that coming up soon. If you are running or know someone who is, feel free to send them my way. I’d like to talk to as many folks as I can.

In other news, I’m reading a great book about two shipwrecks.

Here it is on Amazon.

And New York Times.

And a Wikipedia entry on the Auckland Islands.

And don’t confuse this with the sci-fi movie of the same name that gets awful reviews.

I’m about 50 pages from the end, and really enjoying it. Two different crews are shipwrecked on this island, about 20 miles from each other, yet never find each other. One crew loses nearly all its members to starvation. The other crew survives nearly two years living on roots and sea lions and then builds a boat from scrap and sails for rescue. It’s amazing.

Happy reading.

  1. You’re ready for Boston. Having been a SD resident years ago, it will be interesting to read about those who are with you at Boston. I’ll be living vicariously.

Glad to read that you remain healthy with Boston on the near horizon.

If you enjoy the book you are reading, here is one I read a while back and really enjoyed: “Black Wave.”
