Running for a cause — Teddy Bear Den and Lend-a-Hand

Howdy, friends.

It’s no secret that Sioux Falls runners are a charitable group — they raise nearly $10,000 every Thanksgiving for The Banquet. And most race fees include a donation to some charity or another.

But there’s another no-frills charity run in town — for Lend-A-Hand, the Argus Leader giving campaign. This year, the funds go to The Teddy Bear Den, which provides new moms with baby items.

If you want to support the cause, and have a little fun, join the holiday run tomorrow night. Here are the details, sent to me by the organizers:

What: 7th Annual Holiday Run

Where: JL Beers, Phillips Avenue

When: 6:30 p.m., meet to begin the 3-mile run at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20

Details: Bring a freewill donation, dress in holiday fun gear, and do a short run with like-minded folks. The run goes from JL Beers to The Silver Moon Bar for a pit stop (clearly this puts the “fun” in fun run). Then a jaunt to the top of the observation tower at Falls Park, and a return to downtown.

So let me get this straight … meeting friends to run, raising money for a great cause, stopping for a cocktail and running through the gorgeous holiday light display at Falls Park?

Sounds about perfect.
