Forever young

Howdy, friends.

I was reading the New York Times Well blog today and saw this article on if exercise keeps you young. It goes on to say that yes, yes it does, basically.

I totally believe it. I run with a variety of folks around here, and several are in their 50s. If you were to look at them, you would NEVER guess that. They look pretty amazing (except a little sun damage, maybe). But they are fit, fast, and generally look pretty damn good. It’s enough to make anybody get out of bed and head out to run.

In contrast, I look at others I know who don’t exercise, and they generally don’t look nearly as good. I know, working out should be all about how it makes you healthy, right? Oh give me a break. Like we don’t get some (a lot) of motivation out of fitting into skinny jeans or wearing sleeveless shirts, or whatever it is.

In running news, I did 7.3 miles today. God, it’s still cold out. Ran 4.5 on Monday, and then lifted Tuesday. It’s a good week so far. I’m feeling good with my mileage and happy that I keep hitting the weights classes. It’s really hard for me to stay motivated to lift, so I just take it week by week.

Happy running.

Amen about the skinny jeans. Running gives you half a chance to look somewhat decent in them.

I am wearing my new jeans today, in my old pre-preggo size. Thank you exercise for keeping me young! And totally hot, of course. 😉
