I run and read obsessively. I can eat an entire pan of Rice Krispie treats in one sitting. I have two pretty cute kids, a wonderful husband and a very mellow dog.

Doing a triple, riding a bus
Howdy, friends. So, I returned to running last week, or should I say “running,” after my month off. It went fine. I ran 10.3 miles on Saturday, which was generally pain-free and not horrible. And I rode a spin bike … Continue reading
Swimming
Howdy, friends. Here’s my column from today’s paper: I’ve never been much of a swimmer. I love pools and summer and taking the kids, but when it comes to exercise, I’ve only ever chosen to swim when plagued by injury. … Continue reading
Monster month
Howdy, friends. I’m about 6.5 weeks out from the Boston Marathon. This is about the time in marathon training when you log huge weeks of mileage, when you’re feeling like finally you are in race shape, and when you sacrifice … Continue reading

Me and my pelvis
Howdy, friends. I wish I were here writing about a 60-mile training week, and how excited I am to head to Boston in about 12 weeks. But I’m not. I’m here to write about how I took a full week … Continue reading

Running year in review
Howdy, friends. I’m pretty sure I won’t get a chance to run today, so I’m going to post my year-end stats this morning, knowing they could go up by a measly 5 miles before the day is done. Total mileage … Continue reading
Bye-bye, boobies
Howdy, friends. You know, you just kind of forget how breastfeeding trashes your body. I nursed Jack for 14 months. Then a few months after I stopped, I got pregnant with Genevieve. Which meant, yay, I had boobs (tiny ones) … Continue reading

Marathon training update
Howdy, friends. I ran my first 20 miler of my Twin Cities training yesterday. It went … OK. The good: I ran with some awesome friends, I ran a negative split, and we ran a hilly course, which is always … Continue reading

Potty update, plus some kid conversations
Howdy, friends. I am happy to report that after 9 days of potty-training, I think Jack got it. We had fewer and fewer accidents every day, and now we are averaging 1-2 a day. He has stayed dry for his … Continue reading

Currently reading, plus a photo
Howdy, friends. Just a quick update. I just started “Alice I Have Been” by Melanie Benjamin last night. Here is a review. I’m about 3 pages into it (I was exhausted yesterday), but so far, so good. Sometimes it’s hard … Continue reading

A 10K race report: Crash and burn
Howdy, friends. First things first, we had pretty much the best weekend ever, in the eyes of our toddler, Jack. Here is just a partial list of all the fun things he got to do: Go to the swimming pool, … Continue reading
