Or there will be one extremely disappointed kiddo here on Dec. 25. It’s all he’s asked for — and it’s on the list he wrote at school.

On Saturday, we got all dressed up to see Santa downtown. I have to say, the Santa they had was AWESOME. Super fun and easygoing and disarming for the kids. He was patient and kind and just wonderful. I particularly like this Santa because you take your own photo and don’t get ripped off, unlike other Santas in shopping malls (lame).

My sisters and I have many years of photos of us sitting on Santa’s lap — always dressed up. Often in matching outfits my mother sewed for us. I’m not handcrafting any of my kids’ outfits, but I did dress them up. Jack wore a button-down shirt, which is as dressy as he gets, and I wrangled Viv into a velvet jumper.

They were cute as pie and very excited to see Santa:
